COURSE PREVIEW

Learn how to create travel photography that tells a story.

  • Now and then

Showing the intersection of past traditions and modern life is a great way to capture the essence of a place at a given time. We take you to temples, bustling with tourists and religious pilgrims, to show the convergence of the ultra-modern city, and traditional culture.

  • Taste the place

Food is an essential part of a culture, and the way people meet and socialize around food is a great opportunity for photography. We take you along to a bustling Yokocho - a night time food and party hall. You’ll learn how to photograph the food and the fun atmosphere.

  • Nightlife

Tokyo is a vibrant city with many suburbs coming to life with bright street signs at night. We pair up with a local model to explore the city, and I teach you my techniques for shooting posed and candid people shots, as well as streetscapes.

What You'll Learn

In this course, I’ll teach you how to create a photo essay. Join me on a series of targeted shooting exercises in Japan. You will learn how to work with locals, explore locations and create the best final cross-section of images. Whether you are an experienced travel photographer or you are planning a trip and want to make sure you get the best shots possible my tricks and tips will ensure the final results are amazing!

Hear what photographers have to say…

  • “I love shooting when I travel. But my photos never came out great. I figured I needed a better camera or to up my editing game. Nope. I needed to do this course!” - Henry

  • “Wow, this course helped me so much. I’ve been trying to improve my street photos recently and I didn’t really know how. I did this course and the exercises each day(I’ve actually done the course three times through now) and every time I’m blown away by the results. Thank you!” - Delilah

  • “Actually having some training behind my approach to street photography has changed everything. I’m confident shooting strangers, I’m able to approach people and ask for portraits, I’m seeing the city differently and taking shots I never would before. Thanks so much, Matt. - Ian
